Global Business Councils, comprised of volunteers and staff liaisons within the local or state structure of NAR, take the lead in planning global programs, hosting educational events, and collaborating with other boards and outside entities to build awareness among members of the global business opportunities within their own market.

The National Association of REALTORS® extends beyond the United States and is also a global trade association, providing resources and support to International REALTOR® Members around the world.
Global Business Councils are groups within NAR's local boards, comprised of volunteers and staff liaisons, that are dedicated to globally themed education, programming, and networking. Councils collaborate with other boards and outside entities to build awareness among members of the global business opportunities within their own market.
Acting as REALTOR®-driven community organizations, councils help REALTORS® build partnerships with globally-minded businesses, mortgage brokers, attorneys, and other local entities, positioning their associations as the voice for global real estate in the local market.
Over 130 Global Business Councils currently exist at state and local associations across the country, operating on annual budgets ranging from $0 to five-figure endowments.

The Maryland REALTORS® exists to support all segments of its membership and their specialties. Through collective efforts with local boards/associations and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, Maryland REALTORS®:
Develops and delivers programs, services and related products that maintain and elevate the high standards of the real estate business and the professional conduct of its practitioners.
Assists members in serving the public ethically and successfully with the highest degree of professional ability in real estate matters.
Promotes and preserves the right to own, transfer and use real property.
Protects the right of members to conduct business within a framework of fair and reasonable laws and governmental regulations.
In principle and in practice, the Maryland REALTORS® values and seeks diversity and inclusive participation within the field of real estate and recognizes each member as a unique individual.

Members of Global Business Committee explore and build global business opportunities and relationships for association members – commercial as well as residential practitioners – through educational events, communications and networking. The committee gathers resources to create opportunities for affiliate practitioners of international real estate and coordinate with NAR Global to offer Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation courses. Maintaining relationships with members of diverse groups such as the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) is a priority.
